Yep, I'm leaving AOL. Doing so for a number of reasons -- some external to work, others internal. But I suppose the overriding reason is that it's been 9 years. Geez! When I switched from bartending to office-work, I told myself that each job would be no more than 4 years. I still think that's reasonable. But oh, the lure of stock options. So I stuck it out for years of being miserable for the cash -- which, once vested, hasn't turned out to be that much. Eh, lessons learned. The past couple of years have been good ones. Seems I actually stumbled upon a career in UI design, and the folks I've worked with have been first-class. But I'm getting bored, the commute's getting longer, and I'm getting no younger -- so time to go.
