Well, it's come to this. The last wall in the kitchen to get redesigned.
For those of you who are tuning in late and have missed the first few episodes, here's a summary. I'm renovating my kitchen myself -- doing the design, the cabinetry, electric, plumbing, whole thing. The kitchen has two sections, front & back; and being a galley kitchen, each section has two walls with kitchen things in them. So far I've:
* put a pantry cabinet in the back east wall
* installed base cabinets, sink and a soapstone countertop in the back west wall
* installed base & wall cabinets, sink, countertop, & dishwasher in the front west wall
So now comes the front east wall. This one will require more change from what existed. I'm removing cabinets permanently and installing a built-in fridge, which'll change the layout. You'll see.
First step is below -- I removed the upper cabinets that flanked the exhaust fan. And I'm not going to replace them. The wall will be tiled floor to ceiling, and I want to leave the space open. Right now I've got a spice rack to the right of the range, but that will be a slide-out from behind the fridge. Stay tuned...
