MRI
Update 3Apr09:
Saw the doc and the pinch is indeed that little kink smack in the middle of my neck. Prescription? Two weeks worth of waiting and anti-inflammatories. Says that it might just go away on its own. I welcome any solution that doesn't involve slicing or dicing.
I've got a pinched nerve in my neck which causes a myriad of sensations in my right arm - from pain to pins-and-needles to numbness. It's like there's a party in my arm and only people I don't like are invited. The doctor says it's a disc pressing against a nerve. Great, I've got a bad washer in my neck plumbing. This has been going on for a few weeks now, and today I had my MRI.
Having an MRI is a chance to rediscover your inner claustrophobia. They stuck my head in this big cartoon magnet -- with my face
about two inches from the inside -- and I had to lie there for about 10 - 15 minutes. It's noisy as all get-out, so they give you earplugs. I wouldn't call it a spa treatment, but the whole shebang didn't take long at all. They had an organized system -- including little portable wireless tablets that you signed-in with and entered your information on.
I do love my computing devices and seeing what I can do on them, so I got a copy of my MRI on CD. I have no idea what I'm doing, but that's never stopped me before. I downloaded OsiriX (a mac open source viewer for this sort of thing) and took a look at myself. So that's me at the top there. Weird, huh?
I'll leave the interpretation for the doctor who I see on Thurs. Until then I'll play around looking at the various slices of myself. /p>
