Range Wall Tiled

Range Wall Tile

Alrighty, finished the tile for the wall behind the range. Next up, bathroom shower tile.

Kitchen Backsplash

Backsplash

A little movement on the kitchen front, of late. I finally installed the tile backsplash behind the main sink.

Camerama #27

At long last, the kitchen flooring is installed. Hope you like it. Not sure what the next steps are if you don't.

In the great tradition of late 70's rock radio, here's your Camerama Twofer Tuesday.

Mission Accomplished

"My fellow Americans, major -combat- cabinet-making operations in -Iraq- my kitchen have ended. In the -battle of Iraq- renovation of my kitchen, -the United States and our allies- Greg & his elves have prevailed."

Yessiree, I'm done with the cabinets. For those keeping score, I had an, um, execution mishap with the door of the spice slider. Suffice to say, that'll just be part of the occupation.

What's new? The doors on the upper cabinet and the skinny little cabinet to the left of the range.

Almost there...

I (re)installed the exhaust fan and its companion cabinet yesterday. You can also see the wood panel I installed on the side of the refrigerator. I've ordered the doors for the cabinet & the spice slider. Delivery after Thanksgiving, so they tell me.

One more cabinet to go. It's built and I'm in the process of applying finish to it. It should go in on Thursday.

The Icebox Cometh

Yeah, I know. I've been busy doing non-photogenic things -- like paid work and installing floor underlayment.

But the picture day arrived, my friends -- the deee-lux refridgeration unit arrived on Monday. Take a gander:

Can Anyone Stop The Destruction? (part 3)

Can I just say that I prefer the cabinetmaking to the light construction? After 3 days of too much work, the new wall is up in the kitchen.

I still need to install the fridge, make the spice cabinet, and tile the whole thing -- but let me linger in my feeling of satisfaction before I draw up my next to-do list.

So for the illustrative graphic below, here are the steps:

  1. Removed flanking cabinets
  2. Removed upper cabinet & exhaust fan, framed fridge soffitt, & installed recessed lighting
  3. Removed plaster wall

The Last Wall

Well, it's come to this. The last wall in the kitchen to get redesigned.

For those of you who are tuning in late and have missed the first few episodes, here's a summary. I'm renovating my kitchen myself -- doing the design, the cabinetry, electric, plumbing, whole thing. The kitchen has two sections, front & back; and being a galley kitchen, each section has two walls with kitchen things in them. So far I've:

* put a pantry cabinet in the back east wall

Counter & Dishwasher In

Well folks, it's done. Not the whole kitchen -- heavens no! But over the weekend I installed the counter and the dishwasher (with essential help of Sahil, Harry, Talin, & Laura from Heather's work).

There's some details that I still need to tend to -- rope lights & making another breadboard. But being that major cabinet operations appear to be over, I'm ready to declare "Mission Accomplished!"

(Well, at least this part of it. I still have one more wall of cabinetry including a refrigerator, a linoleum floor, and tile backsplashes yet to do. But that's for September.)

Cabinet In

I installed the base cabinet last week, and spent the weekend wiring & plumbing it.

If I can wrangle up the muscle, the soapstone counter goes in on Saturday. Keep you posted.
