Decent enough food, and we had a room on the second floor with a great view of the main drag in Tal.

    Shower was hot and downstairs.

Although unremarkable in food and room, the Rainbow has got that wonderful view of the waterfall. And you know, that waterfall makes a lot of things feel better.

Showers not all that warm outside in separate building.

The window of our room overlooked a narrow street, a street that had more traffic that I'd've thought in the middle of the night. Night noise = bad sleep. Food unremarkable. The one shower downstairs was hot. Advice? Keep walking.

Our room on the first floor had no sun. Consequently was flat-out cold. Shower was tepid at best -- but it was in our room and not down the hall.

The food? Good -- which means great for Nepal. H had Mexican enchiladas. And when they came out on their sizzling plate, they indeed looked like enchiladas. But they tasted like Indian food, good Indian food at that. I had yak steak. I wouldn't trade yak for a normal cow steak, but it wasn't bad. They do like their sizzling plates at the North Pole.

Although this is listed as being Yak Kharka, it could as easily be classified as being Letdar.

At this point in the trek, it's not about enjoying the villages as much as it's about getting over that pass. And this is indeed a stop on the way to Muktinath. Food? Eh. Room? Eh. With everything in Yak Kharka, Thorung Phedi, and High Camp, you stop because if you keep going you'll get sick. Don't expect much - these aren't really villages and folks don't really live here, except to service the trekkers.
